Hey, Ryo here. OK, everyone. This is where you can learn about the Ronin Warrior OAVs. OAV stands for Originated Animated Videos. Originally Ronin Warriors came from Japan and was known as Yoroiden Samurai Troopers before it was dubbed and seen in America in the English language.
The following which you'll see below were the original OAVs. They have recently been dubbed onto DVD and can be bought at your local Suncoast, Best Buy and Video Universe as well as a variety of places if you look carefully enough.
These were Gaiden, Kikoutei Densetsu, and Message. Down below I will explain about each OAV.
Gaiden: Two episodes. It's my birthday in this OAV and the others are helping me celebrate it. While we are celebrating, I was disturbed that Seiji(Sage) had not come. Everyone else seem to be having a good time, but I was growing worried.
I knew something was wrong. As I looked toward the TV as a special newsflash came on, my suspicions were confirmed. There was Seiji's armor Korin(Halo) attacking people. What was going on here? I had no idea but I was determined to find out.
So I traveled to New York on a plane, and met Shu(Kento) and Shin(Cye) I was surprised they were there, but Shin had told me that Nausti (Mia) had explained everything to them. It wasn't long after our plane was attacked. I saw the attacker, some type of evil spirit, so I knew it was no accident.
That spirit was trying to kill us. Meanwhile Touma(Rowen) Nausti, and Jun(Yulie) were doing their own investigation to find Seiji. They spoke to a reporter asking questions about Korin's attack in New York City. But they seemed to get no where.
So they went to Shu's Uncle Chin's restaurant, knowing that Seiji had been kidnapped. As for me, Shin, and Shu we were all safe and heading for Shu's Uncle's restaurant where we would meet the others. At the same time somewhere else, unknown.
Seiji was suffering badly through dreams, and being forced to show the power of Korin to a mad scientist and to that evil spirit that had attacked our plane. It was horrible, and I had awoken from the nightmare, seeing what Seiji was going through. Shin had asked me if I was alright, but all I could reply was, What a realistic dream.
Touma had decided to return to the reporter to ask more questions and discovered that the man was dead. A girl saw him and accused him of being the murderer. He asked her to wait and chased after her, only to lose her in the crowd.
He looked for her, but could not find her. We met this girl later at Uncle Chin's Restaurant when she tried to kill Touma. I stopped her, and she ran out. Shu wanted to go after her, wanting to settle an unjust cause.I prevented it, saying she was not our enemy, that she was misunderstanding about something. We had more important matters on our hands. We had to find Seiji and rescue him.
Time passed and it wasn't before long as Shu and Touma were at a burger place eating when Korin appeared attacking. They had armored up and attacked the armor, thinking that Seiji had gone mad, only to discover that the armor was empty, finding out that it was instead possessed and being controlled.
Touma was badly injured by the time Shin and I got there. We both attacked Korin, then met our attacker face to face. His name was Shikaisen. He told us he had Seiji and that he was taking care of him basically. Taking care of him? Ha!
But we had no time to ask him just where he was keeping Seiji because he vanished, and we were attacked by the Police who thought we were more evil armors attacking the city. We ran for cover. I helping Touma, and Shin helping Shu. We decided to split up.
Touma and I ran into that girl again. She had us follow her, and we did, having no other choice. She took us underground and helped us out, by tending to Touma's wounds. She told us her name was Luna, and that she was sorry she mistook us.
She saw Touma and Shu in the battle with Korin. As for the reporter that had been killed, that was her brother. No wonder why she was so upset! All Touma and I could do was stare sadly at her as Shu and Shin joined us once again.
Meanwhile ninjas were attacking Uncle Chin, who was trying to defend himself. He shouted for Nausti and Jun to escape but it was no good. They too were taken away, and Uncle Chin was badly hurt.
By the time we found out, Uncle Chin was ashamed of himself, and we were angry. Now we had Seiji, Nausti, and Jun to free. I was determined to go after them. Luna wanted to come with us, but I was concerned for her safety.
I argued with her at first, but finally I gave in and allowed her to come with us. We headed for Shikaisen's place, and were met by the ninjas. We fought, protecting our lives, and the ninja's ran off. We followed them into their hideout, and were met by Shikaisen.
Luna wanted to kill him, but we were warned that if we tried anything we would not see our friends again. The whole thing was a trap. The four of us Samurai Troopers had fallen into a pool of deep dark water. We were electrocuted.
Luckily Nausti and Jun had swung as hard as they could and kicked the mad scientist away from the control panel. The electrocution had stopped. We immediately got out of the water, and Touma freed Seiji.
Seiji immediately armored up and attacked Shikaisen despite our warnings that he was too weak. Seiji was tossed back like a rag doll. The rest of us tried to attack but it proved useless, and in the end we were all caught, our armors and powers analyzed.
Jun in the meantime was climbing back up from where he had fallen and Shikaisen was about to kill him. Luna attacked the evil spirit, saving Jun, while at the same time the evil scientist fired a gun.
I saw Luna fall and crash on the stairs. Horror filled my mind even as Nausti freed all of us. I ran right for Luna and held her the last few moments she was alive.
Shikaisen did not seem to care one bit. I was hurt. I was sad. I was extremely angry. We all attacked. Our attacks proving useless. Finally we decided to use Kikoutei(Inferno) which had not had its data analyzed. I defeated Shikaisen. And we were all free. But we would never be the same again.
Later at the bridge we all stood above the river. I held a flower in my hand, thinking of Luna. I was still sad. As Uncle Chin, Nausti, and Jun came running up to us, I tossed the flower into the river. I would not forget Luna.
Meanwhile at the beach Shin and Shu are both surfing and talking about fighting and beating up evil guys. Shin admits that he prays for no more fights to occur. Unfortunately more fights would occur as we would be facing our greatest opponent ever.
The heat in Japan raised greatly, and illusions of African animals and trees we never saw before began to appear. Everyone began to run in fear, but I remained, watching the sun which appeared to be darkening with each second.
It wasn't long before I was attacked. I had no idea what it was, but I wasn't going to stand around and let myself be killed. I changed into my subarmor and fought back, discovering that my opponent was an African man who carried a gigantic boomerang.
I was stunned. He had no armor nor a subarmor, and yet he could run as fast I could! He attacked me, and I tried to defend myself. I was loosing badly. A building was destroyed, but he did not seem to care. Who was he, and why was he attacking me?!
At the beach Shu and Shin were both resting and getting something to drink when the news came on the radio, speaking of the unexpected weather followed by the illusions of Africa's heart.
It was decided they would go and investigate. At the same time Touma and Jun had met up and were walking back to Nausti's house. Byakuen(White Blaze) had appeared moments later, but instead of stopping to greet Jun as the boy had hoped, the tiger ran right off, leaving Jun confused, hurt, and angry. Only when Nausti had appeared in her jeep did they find out why Byauken had run past them. They climbed into the jeep with her and she raced after Byauken, explaining what she knew so far.
Meanwhile I was still fighting. The warrior was about to attack again, when Byauken appeared knocking him back, and then biting his arm. Amazingly the man did not seem to be affected by it. In fact he had even tamed Byauken! What power!
As for Touma, Nausti, and Jun, they were heading for the city, only to be stopped by Police who told them no one was allowed in until the investigation party came. Nausti tried explaining that I was stuck in there, but she was told to turn back. Touma leapt from the car and jumped right over the officers. Despite their warnings and their chase, they could not catch him as he took off for the heart of the city.
I was still fighting, trying to figure out what was going on. I was thrown back, heading for the ground which was far below me. Luckily Touma came and caught me. I was glad to see him. We were both attacked soon, and we dodged. And then Seiji appeared! He knocked our attacker away, then said calmly, 'What a summer vacation it turned out to be'. Then he asked about the warrior.
We had no idea where he came from. All we knew was that either we armor up and attack as one, or be killed. We armored up and attacked. But our attacks proved useless. We were soon joined by Shu and Shin. Perhaps now we would have a greater advantage.
However to our surprise the black warrior chanted some unfamiliar words to us and suddenly changed into an armor that looked like Kikoutei but instead it was black. We were surprised and confused.
And then the black armor started glowing, and my own armor Rekka(Wildfire) began to glow. I was being drawn near the black warrior who was taking me away from the others. Shu, Seiji, and Touma all gave their power to me, but Shin hesitated, confused. Seiji screamed my name and tried to save me, but we were both taken away by the black warrior back to his homeland in Africa.
Later at night Shu, Touma, and Shin were all back at the house with Nausti and Jun. All of them were trying to figure what had happened to Seiji and me, and where the black warrior could have taken us.
Shu suggested to Nausti that she use the computer to find them, but Shin more or less told him why bother? Shu asked him what he meant, and Shin explained that Seiji and I were in the black warrior's hands.
There was an argument, and Shu had asked Shin why hadn't he helped Ryo when they had the chance. Shin answered that he wasn't sure himself, but then told Shu that he was tired of fighting, growing more hysterical all the time.
Touma told Shin to knock it off, that it was their duty to protect the earth as Samurai Troopers, that it was fate, a responsibility given to them by Kasou(The Ancient) Shin exploded then saying that his fate would not be decided by someone else. Touma tried to calm him, but Shin punched him. Shu got angry and attacked Shin, Shin fought back, but was stopped by Jun. Shin took off, heading for the dock.
Meanwhile, I had awoken in the African plains, and found Seiji near me, still unconscious. I checked him, and he awoke. After making sure he was ok, and all, we decided to wait until dawn when we would be able to see better.
Back at Nausti's house, Touma and Shu were in their room, laying on their beds, talking about Shin, while Nausti was downstairs with Jun trying to figure out where Seiji and I were. As Touma and Shu were resting in their room, Jun came into the room, sadly. Touma asked what was wrong, and Jun had asked them if they were still friends.
Touma told him that we were friends now and forever. Jun had asked then why they weren't helping Nausti find Ryo and Seiji, and then spoke of Shin being outside since he ran away. Shu assured Jun that Shin would return, and Touma mentioned that they had been disturbed about Shin. They had to find Seiji and me first.
Dawn had appeared in Africa by then and Seiji and I were standing high in a tree. It wasn't long before Seiji saw the black warrior. He came at us with sudden speed, and once again we were forced to fight. It proved useless cause soon we were both knocked out by the warrior.
Meanwhile, Shin had been outside by the lake by in Japan, near Nausti's home, thinking things through, about what he had seen of how our armors reacted. This worried and terrified him the most, and the Trooper of Suiko had no idea what to do about this, even as Byauken came to sit with him.
Back at the house, Touma, Shu, and Jun were helping Nausti figure out where Seiji and I were. Thanks to a special friend of her grandfather's, Jun's memory of the African warrior speaking a different language than ours, and Touma's memory of how the language was spoken, they were able to figure out the exact location where we were, and immediately made arrangements to rescue us.
Back at Africa, Seiji and I had come to within a small cell to meet a young woman whose name was Naria. Naria told us the African warrior was her fiancé and that he had been chosen by God to bear the black Inferno and protect their village. To her the armor was corrupt and of the devil. I couldn't agree with her more.
We learned that black Inferno wanted to fight the white Inferno, which was why the African warrior, Makura, attacked us. We Samurai Troopers had been blinded, for we did not know that our armors were taking over us, and we were letting them. When Naria helped us to escape, we continued to fight Makura, only to lose miserably, as our friends searched for us.
Before long Seiji and I, who were both unconscious and near-death, were quickly joined by Touma and Shu who had collapsed fighting off the evil of their own armors.
Shin was the only one left. As we lay dying, Naria, Nausti, and Jun ran through fields gathering wild flowers to make into medicine to help us. During that time I could not swallow the medicine, and Jun was afraid I and the other troopers would die, even though he screamed at some vultures saying we wouldn't.
Before long Shin had arrived. Shin was able to save us, and afterward we decided to stop the black Inferno once and for all. We fought a hard battle, and this time Shin helped us.
We couldn't defeat this armor! It was way too powerful! Even for the white Inferno which I wore.. And when another innocent life was involved, I began to hate myself, but then I realized something was happening to Makura. He was starting to wake up. At this I knew exactly what we had to do. Free Makura from the black Inferno once and for all.
We Troopers joined our minds together and poured it all over Makura, freeing him from his prison. The black Inferno had been destroyed, and thankfully, Naria and Byauken whom we thought were both dead, were spared. So Makura was freed, and we Samurai Troopers stood and watched silently as the two lovers embraced each other.
Message: Five episodes. Message is basically learning and remembering our past, Kasou, our battles with Arago, and the armor itself. All of us nearly grown as Shin is entering his first year of college, and the rest of us are in our last year of high school.
Touma runs down the street, wondering why we had been called again for, and spends time thinking about the past as he rides within in an elevator. When he looks toward City Hall, a girl known as Suzungani appears. She tells him that he expected the fight was over, and that the fight was long over.
Touma is surprised when she shoots energy bolts from her cross at him. Using his skills as a Samurai Trooper, he was able to defend himself, and the spirit of Kasou was about to reawaken the Tenku armor when the child spirit of Suzungani appears and tells him not to. He is surprised at how powerful she is, even for being a child, so he calls in Tenku's power to block and repel her next attack which works on her.
During this time, Touma was sitting on a sofa in her room with a sleeping child crying in her sleep. As five pieces of paper with drawings of Yoroi suddenly blow away, the child sits up and begins to speak. As she speaks, Touma suddenly remembers about the Kikoutei, and how it's only purpose was to fight, nothing more, nothing less. He then appears on Suzungani's NeoStage.
The five yorois of the Troopers surround the two Kikoutei which are surrounded by flames themselves. They fall down the stairs. A bow suddenly flies through the air not long after, but Touma catches it. As Suzungani drops a bloody sword, Touma drops the bow and an arrow appears.
She begs Touma to shoot her when another vision appears behind her. Touma asks why does he have to shoot her, and she replies that her past sadness has led her to this. It cannot be changed. She immediately summons for the Tenku armor, and despite Touma's screams for it to stop it comes, and he is sealed within the Tenku yoroi.
The other Samurai soon find out as Shin had a dream about it. They soon discover they are in a war with a girl named Suzungani who seems to be more powerful than the Ancient himself. Sound strange? You're right, it is.. She targeted each of us, to seal us away and destroy the armor.
Shin was targeted next, but somehow she was more gentle on him. I think she liked him most of all, but it's hard to say.. He tried to protect her when she was attacked by soldiers, and they spoke to each other about the armors and about fighting.
Eventually, even though he wanted no part of it, Shin was given a new armor and the armor of Torrent was gone.. This process repeated to the other three Samurai, until each one had a new armor.
The OAVS were also dubbed, which lead to some surprising changes for those familiar with the dubbed Ronin Warriors. Here are the changes. First, the surekills have all been changed. My surekill became Fury of Wildfire, Cye's became Wave Crusher, Rowen's became Shock Wave, Kento's became Rock Crusher, and Sage's turned to Lightning Strike.
Some of the virtues have changed too. Mine because righteousness, Rowen's to wisdom, and Sage's to grace. Cye and Kento kept theirs. Sage, Kento, and Rowen were no longer voiced by their original voice actors, but instead had new and unexpected voice actors. In fact, the voice actor who does Sage's voice in the dubbed OAVs is the same one who does Dais' voice in the dubbed Ronin Warriors.
So these all the main changes to the dubbed OAVs. I am not sure what to think about them, but Firestorm has told me she feels that the producers should have had the OAVs follow the plot of the dubbed, while putting in an excerpt at the end of each show encouraging the viewer to know the truth behind the history of Ronin Warriors. But I guess that's not meant to be.
At any rate I cannot say anymore about the OAV, particularly of Message, but I suggest you find the OAVs to buy if you're interested. You can find them on sale at Ebay.com periodically from time to time and at your local Suncoast, and perhaps Bestbuy stores. But I hope this was good enough for now. See ya..
